Mission & Values

Our vision is for all of San Diego County’s communities to achieve health equity, improved longevity and a better quality of life.

The mission of the Multicultural Health Foundation:

To bring health justice and wellness to the multicultural communities of San Diego County by focusing resources on the most vulnerable populations with community-based wellness strategies, social-clinical interventions, and research that will lead to the elimination of racial and ethnic health disparities.

The foundation’s approach is:

Accountable: Sets the standard for shared accountability among the organizations working together to improve health care for medically underserved, multicultural communities.

Collaborative: Coordinates efforts among the private, public and non-profit sectors serving multicultural communities to unite their influence and funding around a common agenda to close gaps in health care.

Empowering: Empowers patients to take action affecting their health, and works to give them the information, tools and support to do so.

Innovative: Extends the benefits of information and communication technology to multicultural communities to help them improve and protect their health.

Multicultural: Respects the patient’s culture and recognizes that health prevention and treatment should be culturally appropriate.

Mutigenerational: Recognizes that each stage of life presents unique challenges and opportunities on the path to wellness.

Research-based: Conducts research to examine health disparities locally, potential strategies to reduce them and to identify culturally appropriate policies, programs and best practices in health care.

Sustainable: Works to build sustainable health initiatives to promote the long-term wellness of multicultural communities while decreasing healthcare costs.

Unifying: Brings together the fragmented health infrastructure in the independent physicians’ sector by offering patients access to medical, social and prevention services under one program.

Help us advance wellness in the multicultural community.
