Experts from various cities, professions and perspectives came together on Dec. 1, 2015 in San Diego for a common purpose: To explore the effects of racism on health. They first spoke at an intimate gathering of African American faith leaders. Afterward, they addressed a town hall meeting attended by more than 500 people. The speakers, led by Dr. Camara Jones, offered candid assessments of how racism affects multicultural communities and the strategies they are using to eliminate its devastating effects.
The Foundation’s Health Equity Action Think Tank (HEATT) organized these meetings, the first in a series to raise awareness in the community about health disparities and to advocate for lasting solutions.
